Watercolour Nature Study: Botanicals
Join me for another night of painting, chats and nibbles at the Cannery Arts Centre - the perfect way to wind down after a busy week.
When: Friday the 1st of September 2023
Time: 5:30pm - 8:30pm
Where: Print Room at the Cannery Arts Centre
1018 Norseman Road, Chadwick WA 6450
Those who are familiar with my work will know that my practice is heavily inspired by nature. This workshop is suited for those who share the same passion for the environment and all the creatures that inhabit it. It is also a great opportunity for those who are looking to dive into the world of watercolours for the first time or for those who simply wish to improve their current practice.
This Nature Study will be a botanical study. Participants are encouraged to bring along some foliage and flowers from their own garden that inspire them, and I will also bring some from my own garden. We will focus on one subject for the full three hours covering a range of skills including: sketching, basic colour theory and watercolour techniques with a focus on layering and blending to create a three-dimensional depiction of your chosen species. We will also be discussing the importance of values when creating a monochromatic piece, if you chose to do so.
Participants will have the opportunity to work with Windsor & Newton Cotman paints from my workshop kit. All materials will be provided for the duration of this workshop. It is my hope that you will walk away with a completed study on an A4 sized canvas along with the confidence to continue practicing watercolours at home. You will also receive a digital copy of my “Intro to Watercolours” booklet one week prior to this workshop. We will be going over some of the techniques during our study. Please ensure that the email address that you use to book your spot is current and up to date so that you are able to receive your copy of the booklet.
Light nibbles and drinks will be provided, but feel free to bring along your own if you prefer. This workshop is suitable for anyone who has attended any of my previous workshops, but it is also beginner friendly.
I am very excited to be doing another Nature Study with you all. I received some wonderful feedback after the shells workshop, and it was a unanimous decision to make this workshop 3 hours long instead of 2. For that reason, there has been a price increase. This will be my last Watercolour Workshop for 2023, so I hope to see you there!
Please do not hesitate to email me at info@rachelcbond.com.au if you have any queries in regard to this workshop.
